Traffic Pattern Changes

King George Boulevard and 88 Avenue

Through the end of November 2018, a 24-hour, 7 day/week traffic pattern change is in effect at King George Boulevard and 88 Avenue to facilitate the replacement of the Bear Creek Bridge's existing timber trestle bridge. The work is being done in two stages.

Stage 1 works, affecting the east side of the bridge, is now complete. Work consisted of demolishing the east half of the existing bridge and construction of the east half of the new bridge. To accommodate the Stage 1 work, changes to traffic patterns along King George Boulevard were made by shifting traffic to the west side of King George Boulevard while maintaining 2-lane northbound and 2-lane southbound movements. The traffic shift was successfully completed to accommodate the Stage 1 work, with minimal reports of traffic delays or complaints from the public.

During Stage 2 construction, traffic has been shifted to the east side of King George Boulevard on the newly constructed bridge section, maintaining two-lanes northbound and two-lanes southbound in addition to pedestrian movements. The existing northbound bus queue jumper lane will remain temporarily closed to accommodate construction works while maintaining full traffic movements. All lanes and traffic patterns at the intersection of King George Boulevard and 88 Avenue remain unchanged.
